A Prayer Poem for St. Stephen’s Church ©

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handywork.” Psalm19:1

Between two tow’ring giant fir trees
Sits a splendid church on five acres
In a pristine valley, our Maker’s,
Complete with a vineyard in the breeze.
“Symbols of Faith”, these firs grew with ease.

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ”
1 Corinthians 3:11

Our early pioneer ancestors
Were focused, directed by our Lord;
Knowing the good and true is record.
They built in faith together, outdoors,
A church to thank God whom they adored.

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ Name. On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.” Edward Mote; Wm. Bradbury 1834 The Solid Rock

They built their faith on a solid rock.
A foundation of strength that prevails.
Now, storms of  ‘synodry’ rudely knock
Shaking these foundations off the rails.
But, our faith stands firm despite assails.

“ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1: 9

Early tradition, shaped by courage,
Proved our forefathers up to the mark
As they sought to help and encourage
Future generations to embark
Upon paths lit from our Savior’s spark.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

As we pray for God’s guidance each day
To lean on His Word, trust in His will;
Hear our church notes from the past that say,
“Acknowledge Him for He will fulfill”.
And we pray in this ‘fray’, we’ll obey.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John15:7

Our prayer, we ask in Jesus’ sweet Name,
Is to grant us continued status
As watchful guardians to proclaim
God’s glory at St. Stephen’s, gratis,
Free from backlash with no hiatus.

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that worketh in us.” Ephesians 3:20

We pray, as one flock, to keep our church
In the Christian manner it began,
With Christ sitting on His holy perch.
We plead our case, dear Lord; hear our plan
To keep the generations to span
On this wond’rous site filled with our Church.

“Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
